The start-up area with the BAU Innovation Challenge: a competition for start-ups to present their company, products and solutions from the construction sector.
As part of the Innovation Challenge at BAU, start-up companies apply and present their products and solutions from and for the construction industry. A jury of experts selects the six best and most innovative companies from all the participating start-ups. The nominees presented their product or solution to the audience during a live pitch on the Communication Area stage at BAU 2023. From these live pitches, the jury selected the winner of the Innovation Challenge.

David Nadge is Director at MOMENI Ventures GmbH. MOMENI Ventures invests in Seed to Series B startups (B2B), to accelerate the decarbonization of construction and real estate, with a focus on the DACH region. Previously, he worked at PwC in strategy and organization consulting, and as Head of Digital Experience at SIGNA, where he was responsible for new business models and innovation. David studied management & economics in Innsbruck and holds an M.Sc. in Real Estate Investment & Finance from the University of Reading
Paul Indinger (born 1988) founded Building Radar during his Economics studies at LMU Munich, LSE, and Zhejiang University. As CEO of the company that helps construction product manufacturers and building companies win high-margin projects, he is responsible for strategy and sales. Indinger is an expert in AI and innovative sales processes. In his free time, he enjoys running or playing with his two children.
Michael Kuhn is Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) of the German architectural firm caspar. which employs 130 people at two locations in Cologne and Hamburg. He is responsible for all communications tasks as well as for caspar's marketing and branding. Prior to joining the office in 2020, Michael Kuhn was Head of Communications at gmp von Gerkan, Marg und Partner Architekten, before moving to ingenhoven architects, where he acted as an authorized signatory and Senior Director, being responsible for communications, human resources and IT management.
Christoph Baier is the founder and managing director of Ambivation. Ambivation deals with the collaboration of companies and startups in the context of various forms of cooperation, especially customer relationships and innovation partnerships. In the context of scouting and matchmaking activities, Ambivation addresses local as well as global markets. He also works with the IIoT Use Case team on innovations in the industrial environment. Personally, he supports founders as a startup mentor and previously studied Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship at TU Berlin and Business Informatics at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. In the context of BAU Munich, he also organizes the Innovation & Startup Matchmaking on site.
Michael Schuster is editor-in-chief of DBZ. The DBZ shows how construction is done in a practical way and with an interdisciplinary approach in a variety of ways.
As part of the Innovation & Start-Up Matchmaking, 1-to-1 meetings with suitable start-ups will be organized for you on site.
Gain insights into concrete technologies, digital solutions or innovations and discover in conversation how you or your company can benefit from these new solutions. The format offers a quick get-to-know-you on-site at BAU 2023 and, in the best case, provides the starting point for a collaboration.
