Architecture meets sports

Handball World Championship in Germany and Denmark

Attractive discounts on tickets for the IHF Handball World Championships in the Olympic Park available to visitors and exhibitors at the BAU 2019 construction trade fair.

World champion meets world champion at BAU 2019!

Next year the BAU 2019 construction trade fair will coincide with the 2019 IHF Handball World Championship taking place in Germany and Denmark. From January 11–17 the eye-catching Olympic Park in Munich, which has welcomed numerous major sporting events over the decades, will host games in the preliminary phase of the World Championships featuring former world champions and Olympic champions Croatia, the reigning European champions Spain as well as the national teams from Macedonia, Iceland, Bahrain and Japan. As part of BAU 2019 the city of Munich will also be holding its annual Long Night of Architecture event on January 18, a long-running tradition which sees buildings and monuments of architectural interest stay open late into the night.

Mirko Arend

“We are delighted to be able to collaborate with the Olympic Park Munich. Both events—the IHF Handball World Championship and BAU 2019—appeal to an international audience. The fact that they will be going on at the same time in the same city makes it possible for us to create interesting synergies between the two. The connection between architecture and sport also offers an interesting platform for communication. The Olympic Park will be one of the institutions throwing open its doors to the public during the Long Night of Architecture. We hope that many visitors and exhibitors who come to Munich for the BAU 2019 trade fair will also take the time to check out the IHF Handball World Championship.“
