Biography

Anna Braune studied Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and wrote her thesis on Life Cycle Assessment in collaboration with the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland). She worked for different consulting companies in the field of sustainability and building service engineering. From 2004 to 2007 she was a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart, Chair of Building Physics, Department Life Cycle Engineering. She is initiator and founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), where she served as CEO from DGNB’s foundation in June 2007 to end 2008. Until 2015 she worked at a sustainability software and consultancy company, thinkstep, formerly known as PE INTERNATIONAL. There, as Principal Consultant, she was responsible for the construction team of the consulting services. Since 2015, Anna works again for DGNB as Head of Trends and Research. Anna is auditor, trainer and verifier for the DGNB scheme and former head of the DGNB expert group on Life Cycle Assessment. As environmental engineer, Anna has a deep understanding of both, environmental effects and issues and technical expertise on processing, using and disposal of natural and industrial goods. With a focus on the built environment, Anna gained vast experiences by assessing technologies, building elements, entire buildings and sites using environmental Life Cycle Assessment methodologies, substance assessments, and others. Being very business-oriented, Anna always keeps economic constraints and opportunities in mind when proposing environmental preferable solutions.
