Biography

Chair of the Federal Foundation of Baukultur, architect and urban planner. Previously the department head for urban development and public space planning in the Senate Department for Urban Develop­ment in Berlin (from 2005). Since 1986, Reiner Nagel has worked for the City of Hamburg in various capacities at the borough and senate level, most recently beginning in 1998 as the managing director of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH. He is a lecturer in urban design at TU Berlin, a member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL), an associate member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and an honorary member of the Brandenburgian Chamber of Engineers. In 2020, he was appointed as a member of the Freie Akademie der Künste Hamburg, section architecture. He has been appointed as a member of the board of Urania Berlin in 2021.
