Best figures for BAU China

Between November 5 and 8, 2019, the Asian building industry made good use of BAU China as a platform for presenting product innovations and for high-level exchange on sector trends. This latest edition continued the success story of Asia´s leading trade show for “Building Systems Solutions, High-End Technologies and Materials” in the Asia-Pacific Region.

778 exhibitors presented themselves at BAU China

778 exhibitors presented their products and innovations on 54,000 square meters of exhibition space—this was the largest BAU China ever. Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Messe München, was very satisfied with the show: “Over 61,000 visitors means an increase of 17 percent. And if we look at visitors from outside China, there was also a significant increase, namely of 20 percent,” he said.

The future of the sector in Asia: more digital, more sustainable, more energy-efficient

Smart, sustainable and energy-efficient solutions continue to be top themes in the sector in Asia. Taking as its central theme “The Future of Building in China”, BAU Congress China, an integrated part of the trade show, shone the spotlight on these trends. BCC 2019 was a magnet for visitors, thanks also to the high-caliber speakers, from China and abroad, among them the star architect Junya Ishigami, from Japan.

Further development of the show´s concept

Since the premiere of the event under the name of FENESTRATION BAU China in 2017, sections of the show have been systematically developed in line with the trade show BAU, held in Munich. This further development and the new variety of themes was expressed last year in the renaming of the show as BAU China. FENESTRATION BAU China was integrated as a section within the exhibition. Another step towards expanding the segments is being taken in a new cooperation with the Roofing and Waterproofing Association of China. The China Roofing & Waterproofing Expo is taking place this year in Beijing, at the same time as BAU China. From 2021, it will then be co-located with BAU China in Shanghai.

Statement

Just how important this trade show is was underlined by Bavaria´s Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Hubert Aiwanger, who attended BAU China with a delegation: “I am very pleased that Messe München is also organizing its international trade fair “BAU” with such great success in China. The many exhibitors and large number of visitors are a sign of the increasing demand in China for high-quality, efficient buildings and cities that are pleasant to live in. This trade fair is an attractive platform for future-oriented ideas, concepts and solutions in the building sector.”
