Lecture description

Pressure to reduce costs, architectural aspirations and demographic change are creating new requirements for housing. Modular and serial construction can make planning and execution more reliable. But how much architectural freedom will remain? What will future floor plans look like if they are to meet these demands? This Panel examines the interplay between financing, funding mechanisms and design – and shows how standardisation can be used as a tool for delivering affordable housing without sacrificing quality.
